Easy DIY Fall Wall Art with Hot Glue and Paint

This project is such a fun way to bring some cozy fall vibes into your home.

I made a canvas with glue art, using just a hot glue gun, a few paints, and a bit of patience. The result is a warm, decorative piece that fits perfectly as part of your fall décor.

Step 1: Sketch Your Design

To begin, I sketched out a simple pattern of drops across my canvas using a pencil.

The design doesn’t need to be perfect. If you make a mistake, you can just scratch it out. Since the pencil lines will be painted over later, you don’t have to stress about erasing.

Step 2: Add the Glue

Once I was happy with the layout, I carefully went over my lines with my hot glue gun.

Where I made mistakes I just used a sharp object to fix them while the glue was still hot.

A tip here is not to place your drops too close together, because once you add the glue, they can easily run into each other.

Step 3: Paint the Background

When the glue was completely dry, I painted the entire canvas with a few layers of cream paint. This step really helps to hide any pencil marks or unevenness.

Step 4: Fill the Drops

Next came the fun part: filling in each of the drops.

I used a gradual color effect from red to yellow to give it that fall feeling. Some drops were painted fully red, others completely yellow, and in between, I blended the two shades for a smooth transition.

Depending on the type of paint you use, you may need more than one coat. I did two to three layers in some drops for a richer look.

Step 5: Highlight with Silver

To add a final touch, I highlighted the raised glue lines with silver paint.

This really made the design pop and gave the canvas a bit of shimmer. If I went outside the lines with the silver, I simply touched it up with cream, red, or yellow paint to keep everything neat.

Final Result

The end result is a unique piece of art that works beautifully for fall décor. Whether you display it on a wall or lean it on a shelf with some pumpkins or fairy lights, it adds the perfect seasonal touch to your space.
