I’m a flower girl. I love flowers and leaves and anything in that realm. That means I also like to make things pretty using flowers.
That is why I love this crochet flower pattern so much. It is very easy to make and you can make it in no time. Plus they come out super cute and are perfect for keychains. What’s not to love?
Things You’ll Need
- Any yarn that you like (I used 4 ply yarn)
- The crochet hook size indicated on your yarn (in my opinion, a 4mm one works best for 4 ply yarn)
- A keyring if you want to use it for a keychain
I know that saying ay yarn will work is pretty vague, but the fact of the matter is, it really doesn’t matter. Using a different yarn-weight and hook size will only impact the size of your flowers. Mine came out at about 3cm or 1 inch in diameter.
What to Do
Now for the fun part, the actual crocheting.
1 Starting Off
First, chain (ch) 5. Then slip stitch (sl st) into the first chain.

Then, chain two.

2 The Petals
Next, we’re going to make two double crochet (dc) stitches into the centre of the ring we just created (where my left thumb is in the below picture).
I hold the tail of the yarn with the ring and crochet over it. That way I don’t have to work it back in later, but if you prefer to work it back later, go for it.

After the slip stitch (sl st) you’ll repeat the previous part four more times with a slip stitch in between each. Here is the rest of the pattern after the stitch (sl st I just mentioned. I’ll use the abbreviations for the stitches as I indicated in brackets throughout the post.
2 dc
sl st
Repeat the above four times
3 The End
Chain (ch) as many as you want for the string that will attach to the keychain. For mine I put three flowers on the ring and I didn’t want them to be the same length. So, the one I chained two, the other I chained three and the last one I chained four.
Cut off the yarn with a bit to spare so you can work it back later.
4 Attaching it to the Keychain
Thread the tail end of the yarn through the key ring, keeping the loop on the other side.

Then, pull that same thread through the final loop of your chain and pull it tight.

Finally, work the loose end back into the flower with a needle (a needle works better than using your crochet hook in this case).

Cut off any remaining pieces.
Conclusion
I absolutely love this keychain. It is super cute as you can make it as colorful as (or not) as you want.
