A Cosy Leaf Jar You Can Make in an Afternoon

If you’re in the mood for something quick, calming, and a little bit earthy, this little DIY decor project is just the thing. It’s perfect for fall, but honestly, it would look lovely any time of year.

What You’ll Need

  • A glass jar (I used a small one, but a bigger one will work just as well
  • Enough leaves to cover most of the surface of the jar
  • Glue gun
  • Lace ribbon
  • Tea light candle

Steps for the Project

Start by Picking the Right Leaves

I began by collecting some leaves from the garden. The trick is to choose ones that aren’t completely dry yet. If they’re still a little soft, they’re much easier to work with. That way won’t crack or crumble when you use the glue gun later.

I trimmed each stem so it matched the height of the jar and made sure I had enough to go all the way around.

Time to Get the Glue Gun

To stick them on, I used my glue gun.

At first, I glued the stems around the bottom of the jar, then went back and stuck the top parts of the leaves down so they closed any gaps. But if I were to do it again, I’d actually glue each leaf fully (top and bottom) before moving on to the next stem. That would’ve made things a bit neater and easier to control.

A Finishing Touch

Once all the leaves were on, I added a bit of lace ribbon around the base. Just a tiny bit of hot glue held it in place nicely. Then I popped a tea light candle inside and that was it. It is a super simple project, but the result is amazing.

Final Thoughts

It’s one of those crafts that doesn’t need much time or effort, but still feels really special once it’s done. Rustic, handmade, and a little bit magical. Just the way I like it.
